Tobe Hooper working on "the Mexican Freddy Krueger"

tobehooper5a.jpgTobe Hooper, the director of the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre is set to work on a brand new horror movie known as Tequila Joe. The movie sounds as if it's a slasher flick with the villain described as "the Mexican Freddy Krueger". From Bloody Disgusting...
Teaming up with horror scribe Dan Madigan (See No Evil), the duo is out to create what Hooper describes as "a tequila swigging, meth-snorting, whore mongering, foul-mouthed, machete wielding murderous ghoul called 'Tequila Joe'. "
Hooper says this is the first project he has been passionate about since the first Texas Chain Saw Massacre movie in 1974. Horror movies and especially slasher movies are in such a poor state right now, it's hard to get excited about any project that is greenlit, especially one with Hooper involved. He has only ever made two watchable films. Still, Tequila Joe sounds like a cool villain.
