Top Gun 2: Maverick Casts Miles Teller As Goose Jr

Hopefully not like father like son...

There's a new Goose in town.

After the news of Val Kilmer's Ice Man returning to the Top Gun sequel, it's now been revealed that Tom Cruise's Maverick will also be joined by the son of another old friend, as Goose's son has just been cast.

He'll be played by Miles Teller, who has been officially cast, according to Variety and who is the first new cast member for the belated return to the Danger Zone. He apparently won the role ahead of fellow shortlisted stars Nicholas Hoult and Glen Powell (who looks a hell of a lot more like Goose than Teller does it has to be said).

The original Goose was played by Anthony Edwards and was killed in a tragic accident leaving behind a wife and young son, who you'd think would want to stay away from planes. But it seems that Maverick is going down the Creed route of having a bereaved son wanting to follow in his father's footsteps while struggling to live up to expectations with an affectionate but slightly over-bearing mentor.

It could well be the exact same film only with planes and not punches. For now, though, story details are being kept under wraps as filming is in its early stages.
