Ursa (& General Zod?) In SUPERMAN Reboot?

Further rumours and developments regarding Zack Snyder's Superman reboot today have left us even more confused about what to expect from the Dec. 2012 tentpole. The confusion began yesterday when it was reported that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike - three blonde haired actresses' we hadn't previously heard in contention with the Man of Steel - were all vying for the lead female role that apparently wouldn't be the iconic Lois Lane, but that's all we knew. Then today - the very well informed Latino Review claim the secret role is that of Ursa, the female member of the trio of villains from Superman II alongside Non and General Zod and who also memorably feature in the opening scene of the first Richard Donner directed Superman movie where Marlon Brando's Jor-El banished them from Krypton to The Phantom Zone. So if Ursa's appearance is true, it almost certainly means Zod will feature in the new Superman, probably as the main threat. But then also today, Diane Kruger's reps have told Coming Soon that she's not in contention for Superman at all - so who knows what to believe at this point. Truthfully, I don't know a great deal about Ursa. Of course I remember the character from the Donner movies and she was pretty bad-ass and Susan Douglas played her with a great essence of superiority and emotionless contempt for humans (particularly men) but I've never read anything of the character in any other medium. In fact, I'm reading now that she's only in the past few years been introduced into the comics universe having actually originated in the 70's films. And if she is to appear, Diane Kruger is easily the best of this bunch to play her - but well, she's not supposed to be in talks, is she? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw5yj6t-HgU Final Word - If David Goyer (screenwriter), Chris Nolan (producer) and Zack Snyder (director) have cooked up a 'fresh' take on Superman that involves a Kryptonian story - like the one from 1978 - then that's a huge let down. Don't we want to see something new? Shooting is gearing up to begin in the summer so hopefully all these rumours are close to being wiped out by official casting news.
