Venom Trailer 2 Reactions: 7 Ups & 4 Downs

2. There's Not Enough Michelle Williams STILL

When you have someone of the acting calibre of Michelle Williams, you'd think a studio might be keen to get her involved in the marketing of their movie. Sure, they have a great character and Tom Hardy to hang a lot of the appeal on, but Williams is excellent in pretty much everything and her character is an important - and so far absent - element of the story.

When the film is so clearly invested in the split between human and symbiote and the clash of Eddie and Venom's personalities (in a good old-fashioned Jekyll and Hyde style), the more you can anchor the human side to the real world, the better. It's all well and good having Eddie's slight goofiness making him "relatable", it would be far more dramatically useful to see more of his existing relationships.

It costs him more if he's leaving her behind - which we do get a SLIGHT hint at when he says he doesn't entirely hate Venom's powers - and it's a lot smarter for him not to simply be a quirky loner.
