Warner Bros. struggling to find a GREEN LANTERN, are they about to hire a 19 year old?

It got a release date this week, so we know that GREEN LANTERN, the next superhero to get the big money roll of the dice from Warner Bros. is less than 22 months away from hitting our screens. greenlantern So WB. need to decide soon who will wear the green of Hal Jordan but according to Latino Review, the studio have so far found that task very difficult. They say THE NOTEBOOK star Ryan Gosling (who LR have mentioned before in conjuction with this role) has turned the movie down, as has INTO THE WILD and SPEED RACER's Emile Hirsch. Sam Worthington, who seems to be a name who always crops up these days with blockbuster gigs, turned it down because he's busy working on CLASH OF THE TITANS at the same studio. So they are having to delve a little deeper to find their man and the word is, Russian born actor Anton Yelchin, who isn't 20 till March is who they are going to approach. anton-greenlantern You may not know his name but once I tell you he's playing Chekov in STAR TREK and is playing Kyle Reese in TERMINATOR SALVATION, by the end of May he is certainly going to be geek radar's everywhere. You may remember last year when JUSTICE LEAGUE was still a possibility, Yelchin was the name attached at WB to play The Flash, so there's an awful lot of legitmacy to this story. Back then, THE GREEN LANTERN that was going to be featured in JLA was going to be more of a mentor figure, and the role was nabbed by actor/rapper Common, who is black as they were adapting the Jon Stewart version. But that movie fell down and they are now aggressively trying to get LANTERN to the big screen. CASINO ROYALE and THE MASK OF ZORRO director Martin Campbell was recently announced as the director... will NINETEEN YEAR OLD ANTON YELCHIN be cast in what would be the biggest risk at WB since they hired an unknown actor to play The Man of Steel back in 2004.
