"I did not kill my wife. I am not a murderer." Following in the tradition of releasing trailers that are downright awesome, the first teaser for David Fincher's latest film - Gone Girl, based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn - has made its way online. And just like the trailers we glimpsed once upon a time for the likes of The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, both of which went on to receive critical and commercial acclaim, Gone Girl's minute and a half teaser is appropriately gripping and eerie - something akin to a work of art in itself, even. The trailer is rendered in a series of characteristically Fincher-esque shots, then, backed by a bizarro world rendition of Charles Aznavour's "She" (by Richard Butler), which evokes memories of that Social Network trailer and its cover of Radiohead's "Creep." Those familiar with the story will know that Gone Girl chronicles one Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck), whose marriage to Amy (Rosamund Pike) slowly reveals itself to be incredibly complicated when she goes missing and people begin to wonder... did Nick kill his wife? In a bold move, David Fincher and author Gillian Flynn actually concocted a brand new ending for the movie adaptation, which means that - even if you're super familiar with the book - you won't necessarily be able to guess what's going to happen in the third act. Gone Girl opens in theaters on October 3rd, 2014, and stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Missi Pyle, Carrie Coon, Boyd Holbrook, Emily Ratajkowski and David Clennon.
