In his first big part in any film, Herzog will be playing Zec, an ex-p.o.w. who leads the conspiracy that starts after a military sniper is arrested when it's believed he has murdered 5 people.

Tom Cruise as the imposing 6€™5€ tall, near 250 pounds former military policemen now wandering loner, Jack Reacher in One Shot, the first film adaptation of the highly acclaimed fifteen book series by Lee Child. But how's this to win over your forgiveness? Variety report the quite frankly tantalisingly awesome casting of Werner Herzog as the villain of the movie! How genius is that? Cruise squaring off against Herzog! In his first big part in any film, Herzog will be playing Zec, an ex-p.o.w. who leads the conspiracy that starts after a military sniper is arrested when it's believed he has murdered 5 people. Rosamund Pike plays love interest Helen Rodin, a defence attorney who defends the man accused of the killings and who works with Reacher to bring the real culprits to justice. Robert Duvall, Richard Jenkins, David Oyelowo, Alexia Fast and Jai Courtney all support. Cruise€™s new favourite screenwriter Chris McQuarrie who wrote his vehicles Valkyrie, Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol (financed by Paramount and Skydance) and the in-development Top Gun sequel, has adapted One Shot, the ninth book in Child€™s best-selling 15 novel series. McQuarrie will also direct with shooting to begin soon and if you are doubting his directorial talents, seek out The Way of the Gun. Paramount will release the film on February 8, 2013.
