Whedon says no to Serenity 2

serenity.jpgSerenity last year was the most boring film I saw in 2005 and on that evidence I could see why the show Firefly was cancelled. Surprisingly though, everyone seemed to like it. The movie was critically well recieved and although it just about managed to make it's money back at the box office (took $38million on a $40million budget), it got great word of mouth from the people who did see it (8.1 on IMDB). A sequel seemed a sure thing, as sequels usually generate high numbers once more people have seen the first on dvd and word of mouth etc. But Whedon has broke all you Serenity fanboys hearts by posting this message on whedonesque.com message board... "There's no sequel, no secret project regarding Serenity or some such and I'm not even sure how anyone thought there was talk there. I've seen Nathan and Tim (and Summer and Alan) recently because they're my friends because I'm so, yeah, awesome. So let's put that to bed and smother it with a pillow." What's funny is.... he made Serenity a movie from a TV show that was so unpopular it didn't survive for a second season but now his film was well recieved and a sequel was wanted.... he ain't gonna deliver it. source - whedonesque.com, arrow in head
