ww.jpgSo we have now hit the third month of the year and we are still awaiting a movie that has been well reviewed by those who are paid to tell us what to see, to open at Number 1. Critics seem pretty much useless at this point. Wild Hogs opened with a whopping $38 million this weekend, the third highest opening for a March release ever. That road movie, with John Travolta, William H. Macy, frikin' Tim Allen and Martin Lawrence who couldn't look any less cooler on those hogs, made $38 million!!! The movie that people should have seen this weekend, David Fincher'sZodiac, opened to a disappointing $13 million, a long way from it's budget of $65. That opening is way less than his last movie Panic Room which opened at $30 million but isn't too far away from Fight Club's opening in 1999, even with added inflation and less theatre count. Ghost Rider continues to show good legs at number 3, and it's very, very close at hitting the $100 million dollar mark. Black Snake Moan opened at number 8 taking in a very quiet $4 million, but with it only playing on 1,252 screens, it's average audience to theatre would place it third this week. 300 is the only big new release next week so we can expect Wild Hogs' stay at the top to be a short one. 2 March 2007 (Sunday Estimates) Rank Title Weekend Gross 1.
