Wonder Woman's REAL Big Villain Was Just Revealed

And it's not who you think...

It has long been pretty safely accepted that Danny Huston is playing the big villain in Wonder Woman, and that he would be eventually revealed as Ares as the film progresses in a sort of "my name is Khan/yes we already know that, Benedict" dynamic.

BUT it seems we've all been duped. Apparently, test screenings of the film have just taken place and Ares is actually played by someone else entirely, as Batman-News have reported.

Obviously, spoilers are inevitable, so if you're not interested in finding out who is actually playing Ares in Wonder Woman, maybe look away now...

Okay, so according to Batman-News, David Thewlis - the Harry Potter and Fargo star - is actually playing the villainous God and he's apparently a mix of CGI and practical effects (hooray for more computer generated monsters!). Quote what CGI would be needed remains to be seen - perhaps it's simply a case of the required armour being way too heavy for Thewlis to actually wear? Or hopefully it's just a way of making his eyes glare menacingly out of his helmet in red...

Thewlis wasn't a secret element of the cast, it was just widely assumed that he was playing someone more nondescript, but it seems Warner Bros have pulled a very successful fast one for a long time. And it's actually great casting: he has almost Shakespearean presence and has played a snivelling villain before (in the mighty, widely hated Dragonheart), so this is really very exciting.
