CGI Disney animation Wreck-It Ralph has its first trailer and it’s looking extremely promising – especially if you’re a lifelong gamer. Just from the first footage released, those familiar with video games will spot lots of familiar faces, including Bowser from the Mario series, Dr. Robotnik (or Eggman, if you like) from the Sonic games, a couple of Street Fighter dudes and (I think) the demonic guy from cult Bullfrog RTS Dungeon Keeper. There are doubtless dozens of others.
The first feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios since last year’s Winnie the Pooh – and first CG offering since the well-received Tangled – Wreck-It Ralph stars John C. Reilly as the titular hero: an 8-bit arcade game baddie who wants to become a goodie. Along the way he leaves his game and ventures into other characters’ worlds, at some point ending up in a FPS called Hero’s Duty – home to a gun-toting heroine voiced by Glee’s Jane Lynch.
30 Rock favourite Jack McBrayer is on hand to voice Ralph’s long-time nemesis Fix-It Felix Jr., whilst comedian Sarah Silverman is lending her talents to Vanellope von Schweetz – hyper-active inhabitant of the sickly sweet game Sugar Rush.

The film is co-produced by John Lasseter, in his capacity as the overseer of all Disney animation, and directed by Rich Moore, a veteran of TV animations The Simpsons and Futurama.
Wreck-It Ralph opens in the US November 2nd.
