X-Men: Apocalypse Super Bowl Spot - 10 Things You Need To See

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for the Psylocke show.

While Captain America: Civil War probably won the battle of the comic book movie trailers at the Super Bowl (it was a close run thing between two horses), X-Men Apocalypse offered some excellent insight into what we can expect from Bryan Singer's trilogy ender. There's mass destruction, hand-to-hand mutant combat, soccer mom Mystique and basically the end of the human race, by the look of it. And rather wonderfully, it looks like Apocalypse is going to be the most comic book-like X-Men movie of all. In a good way, obviously. As an exercise in hype building, the trailer is excellent: there wasn't any Batman V Superman-like spoiling, with the marketing team going for an emotional mood board rather than a narrative build, and the one message that endures is the idea that the rise of the new villain is the kind of threat Singer needed to top Days Of Future Past. We got a first real look at Psylocke in all her glory, a brief glimpse at Nightcrawler and the merest hint that Magneto really did get married, but that was only a small fraction of the new hints and footage in the excellent Big Game spot.

10. Using Our Own Weapons Against Us

So this is how the titular apocalypse manifests itself: presumably the new mega villain goes full Skynet and turns humanity's methods of defence against us. We've already been promised a global scale threat, and having large swaths of the Earth wiped out in a nuclear war certainly fits the bill.
