X-Men Movies: 7 Perfect Performances & 7 That Sucked

6. Apocalypse - Oscar Isaac

X Men Apocalypse Oscar Isaac
Fox

There's a small army of fans who don't hate X-Men: Apocalypse, but it would be fair to say that the film didn't exactly delight fans who'd loved Days Of Future Past. One of the issues that repeatedly comes up when criticism is flying about is the problem of taking an actor as brilliant as Oscar Isaac and hiding him under so much rubber and prosthetics that you kill his performance entirely.

It's not entirely fair, because Isaac's Apocalypse has his moments, but he's forced to over-compensate so much for how he looks in order to make more than a one-dimensional impact that he comes off a bit... pantomimey. Which is the nice way of saying he's hammy, over-blown and fatally silly.

Isaac could have been a great villain, if he'd been allowed to perform properly, but he was clearly directed here in entirely the wrong way and it's a rare black mark on his CV.
