X-Men: Mr Sinister Is Coming In A Future Movie (Just Not Yet)

It's only a matter of time...

Mr Sinister
Marvel Comics

Anyone watching X-Men: Apocalypse could have been forgiven for assuming that the post-credits stinger establishing that Logan's DNA was stolen on behalf of Mr Sinister (or so the implication was anyway, given that it was headed to Essex Corps' HQ) would mean Logan would include the iconic villain.

With the first reviews all but confirming that Sinister doesn't appear, Simon Kinberg was asked by CinemaBlend about the film and the future possibilities of seeing Sinister in an X-Men movie. Here's how he responded to being directly asked if there are plans for the villain to appear:

“The short answer is yes. We would love to see Sinister. I think he is one of the great untapped villains in the X-Men universe, and we do have plans to introduce him into the world.”

Despite his lack of direct involvement in the movie's events, Kinberg did concede that the implication is that Wolverine's clone X-23 was created with the involvement of Essex Corps. So is Sinister vanquished by this point in the timeline? Will we be jumping back to the early timeline to meet him, or could he be the villain for a possible X-23 spin-off?

Whatever the method of delivery, it's about time Fox delivered him to their shared Marvel universe.
