X-Men: The New Mutants - 10 Big Reasons To Be Excited

9. The Source Material

New Mutants Villain
Marvel Comics

The New Mutants is a very interesting series of comic books, to say the least. The series focused very heavily on younger mutants, as opposed to the more mature X-Men, fittingly portraying them as a more naive but also incredibly charming splinter team. In turn, it became one of the most well-known X-Men offshoots.

The New Mutants also featured a rather diverse cast, with characters from various different walks of life, further cementing one of the X-series' core values of unity despite differences. Not only that, but this series also tended to take things in a more bizarre direction than the main X-Men stories did, bringing some surreal and/or creepy moments to the table.

In fact, the New Mutants film is apparently taking inspiration from the Demon Bear saga from the comics, which is both one of the series' most famous and most eerie storylines. So, in other words, the fantastic New Mutants source material greatly lends itself to the teen horror feel the film is going for.

In fact, if there was ever a way to introduce The New Mutants to the big screen, this is it.
