13 WWE Stars Who Lost The Most WrestleMania Matches

Losing at WrestleMania might seem a stigmatised thing: it's billed as the Showcase of the Immortals precisely because of its importance on the WWE calendar after all. But a surprising number of top level superstars have failed to even break the 50% win rate barrier, suggesting that the company either purposefully suppresses veterans and favourites (in the interest of politics or drama) or uses WrestleMania victories as spring-boards. Either way, it's a successful formula: stars as auspicious as The Rock have hit the mat 5 times (along with the likes of Chris Benoit, Booker T and Kurt Angle), and they don't even make the cut for the pool of biggest losers. But therein lies the appeal of the big event: while accusations of results manipulation (and selfishness) might appear after every event, inevitability isn't always the most powerful force in the WWE. Then again, some stars were clearly made to be screwed: whipping boys whose value was usually in selling defeat and making their opponents' victories all the sweeter. They weren't necessarily unskilled, or unfancied stars, it was more a matter of them being good enough to lose, which is why so many of those with the biggest number of losses are legitimate super-talents...

"Mr WrestleMania" might have played a big part in some of the most epic moments at the showcase, but he didn't win as many as he probably should have.
