The WWE wrestler who works the most matches in a year is considered the company iron man. It is a true badge of honour for a wrestler to declare they worked more matches in the company than any other peer. Being the most active wrestler is a sign of toughness. It proves that a wrestler is physically fit and enduring enough to take more of the ring than any other. It's also a sign of wrestling astuteness, as it tends to be the better in-ring workers who get counted on to carry the load. That's why a guy like The Nature Boy Ric Flair took such pride in talking about his 1980's wrestling schedule. It seems like almost every interview he gives, Naitch mentions wrestling 300 plus times a year and immediately hitting the nightclub afterwards. He takes extra pride in the fact he could go an hour in the ring and still have the energy for hours of hard boozing afterwards. But Naitch's achievements came primarily in the NWA and WCW. Who were the WWF wrestlers that had the most matches in a year from 1985 to 2015? It represents the key eras in WWE history, from the cartoon to the attitude to now, these were the men who Vince McMahon counted on most for in-ring appearances.

Rating: 218 Matches

Vince McMahon doesn't think Cesaro has "it", but he certainly had the most matches in 2014.

On reflecting on all of this data, the 80's were clearly a harder schedule. In recent times, the number has got back in the 200+ level, which is indicative of WWE's thinner star power.
