The big deals Wenger needs to sort out immediately.

After a mixed summer of transfer activity that saw great additions to the Gunners squad, Arsene Wenger was nevertheless accused of poor planning. He allowed Thomas Vermaelen leave and left his defensive options painfully limited, which has been shown up in some games already this season. Money needs to be spent in January to fix those short-comings, not least because Arsenal again find themselves out of close touch with the League leaders. Champions League progress offers a silver lining, but the squad needs some development before success in that competition can be realised. The Gunners have apparently already signed one player - 16-year-old Legia Warsaw starlet Krystian Bielik - but the squad is still on the thin side and injuries have been a problem already this season. If Arsene Wenger wants to stay in the hunt for silverware, he will need reinforcements beyond just him...

Rating: IN

A £50m move has been mooted, with Laurent Blanc unimpressed with the Argentinian's form. That's a lot of money, but he's a very talented player, and would add to Wenger's attacking options nicely.
