10 Additions We'd Like To See In Total War: Three Kingdoms

The first post-release DLC for Total War: Three Kingdoms has been announced. What do we want next?

Creative Assembly has recently announced their first post-release DLC for their Romance of the Kingdoms themed wargame, Total War: Three Kingdoms.

With the pre-release DLC of the Yellow Turbans, which added three new playable factions, one could say that the new release, Reign of Blood, could be a little underwhelming. The DLC, as of writing this, does not have an official price listed. It adds gore, decapitations, blood spatters, de-limbing of horses, and other disgustingness to the game. So far, the community seems to be quite excited for it – they do say the blood of your enemies is excellent for one's complexion, after all.

Reign of Blood is coming after a couple of patches to fix some of the community's biggest problems, such as fixing Yuan 'You Belong To Me Now' Shao's habit of vassalizing the entire map by the time you figure out what the hotkeys are. And there's the promise of more DLC on the way.

This has got us thinking about what we'd like to see in the future for the game. Some of these would work best as DLC additions, some could simply be patched in. We'll be looking forward to seeing if Creative Assembly takes any of these ideas and what kind of price points they'd put onto it.

10. Unique Model And Portrait For Diao Chan

I will preface this whole point by pointing out that there are a lot of upset armchair generals out there. What has them upset? The inclusion of women in the game. You can play as Zheng Jiang, the Bandit Queen, who is a character based off a pair of female bandits who operated during the late Han dynasty. There is also, of course, Sun Jian's daughter who famously scared the wits out of her husband, Liu Bei, because she likened herself to a warrior in her own right and kept a retinue of well armed lady guards at her side. Both of these characters have unique models and portraits.

But Diao Chan, sometimes referred to as 'the most beautiful woman in the nation' during this time – the woman who convinced Lü Bu to kill Dong Zhuo – she just gets a generic Strategist-class portrait and model. Really? She should be given a unique portrait and model, and preferably even unique voice clips like other characters.

Guan Yu says things like, “My loyalty is as great as my beard is long.” Diao Chan should get neat lines like that... though perhaps with less reference to ownership of a beard. Even people who don't want female characters in the game say that, if they're going to be there, Diao Chan should be highlighted as a unique character.
