No doubt about it, video games can be pretty weird sometimes. Even some of the more mainstream titles have their odd moments, but the truly strange, the ones so eccentric in their essence that they make you question what you’re are playing or even seeing? Those are the ones worth pointing out.

The thing about weird games though, is they aren’t guaranteed to be any good. In fact, most aren’t, on account of being relegated to the fringe of the industry. Look hard enough however, and you can find those diamonds in the rough. They are few and far between, but the feeling of discovering any special oddity makes everything totally worth it.

The following are just a handful of such games. Despite their outlandish natures, these gloriously bizarre games are genuinely good and worth playing, providing you can get your hands on a copy.

10. Goat Simulator

Goat Simulator is literally a joke, albeit one that makes for a very strange and entertaining game - at least until the joke wears thin. You play as a goat, but contrary to its title, this is as far away from a simulator as you can get. Instead of grazing peaceful in a field, your goal is to run around a sandbox town and cause as much mayhem and destruction as possible.

This means jumping, ramming, and licking everything you possibly can, people included, and watching the intentionally exaggerated results. You are encouraged to be creative and engage in tricks and stunts, which earns you points. The better the stunt, the better the score, which is multiplied when chained together. Everything, especially the physics, is over the top, and it’s fun to see what kinds of ridiculous exploits you can get the goat into.

Goat Simulator is intentionally bad for the sake of comedy, and this turned it into an overnight success, spawning the “simulator genre,” which now plagues the PC indie market. Still, you can’t deny the infectiously anarchic concept and design. It’s weird, it’s wacky, and it’s a hilarious way to unwind at the end of the day.
