10 Announcements We Want To Hear At Gamescom

Uncharted 2

Europe's biggest gaming convention, Gamescom, kicks off for the press tomorrow (a day before the public), with EA, Sony and Microsoft delivering conferences that will hopefully bring us a few unexpected surprises as the onset of the next-gen revolution draws ever closer. We already know that the following highly-anticipated games will be on show: Call of Duty: Ghosts, Destiny, The Elder Scrolls Online, Battlefield 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Titanfall, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Watch Dogs, Batman: Arkham Origins, Beyond: Two Souls and Kingdom Hearts 3. The question we're all asking, though; what's going to show up that we haven't had prior warning about? Though Sony have hinted strongly at several reveals tomorrow, it's the left-field surprises that are certainly the most fun to speculate about, and here we go...

10. PS4 Gets November Release Date For North America & Europe

ps4-new-pic This is about as dead certain as anything is at Gamescom this year, for Sony recently announced that their press conference would, among other things, be "a briefing to media on our release plans for PlayStation 4." Given how notoriously tricky console releases are, much attention will be paid to which territories will get the console first, and while Europe and North America will, as Sony's largest markets, get top priority, all bets are off for everybody else. The safe bet is that NA and Europe will get the PS4 sometime in early-to-mid November, while Japan and other countries will have to wait until early 2014. In addition to this, expect Sony to announce some bundle deals and even possibly a more advanced Premium PS4 model.
