Assassin's Creed's hidden blades were only the tip of the iceberg.

We all have our preferred weapon of choice, whether it be a .44 Magnum, a sledgehammer, a bedazzled gauntlet from space or a chainsaw-mounted assault rifle.

Y'know, because video games.

Whether it be a weapon's ability to dismember, destroy, or just plain delight you with a fireworks display of gunpowder and claret, chances are you've built up a personal hall of fame for such things, probably from a young age when you were more easily affected and influenced.

Personally, I feel the following weapons are somewhat being left in the dirt, or traded out in favour of more popular counterparts, yet they're just as good as ever, should a developer decide to do them justice once again in the future.

Let us know your own favourite video game weapons in the comments below. Not everything can be a Lancer or a hidden blade, and it's about time we shone the spotlight on everything else.

10. Fiber Wire - Hitman

Years back, I wouldn't have labelled the Fiber Wire as overlooked or forgotten, it was a necessity in Blood Money and beyond.

However, with the recent inclusion of just choking people out and using environmental weapons in Absolution and 2016's rebooted Hitman, is the Fiber Wire really all that necessary?

It's certainly still a silent option compared to a lot of the other takedown choices, but if you're good enough to knock out, distract or choke someone without garnering any nearby attention - which I'd argue is easier than ever now - the Fiber Wire is close to useless.
