9. Vampire Masquerade (PC) (2004)

A First Person RPG developed exclusively for PC and sequel to the more popular Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption, VTM:Bloodlines sought to bridge the gap between First Person shooters and Open world RPG's at a time when neither genre rarely crossed paths. After a one night stand goes unexpectedly array, the player finds themselves transformed into a creature of the night and forced to pick an allegiance to one of the seven Vampire clans that secretly operate amongst human society. Each clans membership comes with it's own pros and cons and different branching story-lines. One you're happy with your character and new vampire family. The city of Los Angeles becomes your playground. Open world exploration is encouraged and often yieled rewards in the form of new missions and loot items. Based on the popular pen AND paper game by White Wolf, VTM: Bloodlines had more in common with the Joss Whedon favourites Buffy and Angel and the equally popular Blade movies. While, the expansive White Wolf folklore & history penetrated each crevice of this modern day LA. This dual appeal didn't resonate with fans of either genres at the time and a wrath of technical issues did nothing to boost sales either. Soon after the games release, developer Trokia games shut down. The game appeared across game retailers bargain shelves everywhere, leaving fans with not much hope of ever seeing a sequel. In the years since, a dedicated community has grown around Bloodlines, patching many of the games issues and frequently adding new content such as texture packs and new models €“ leaving no excuse to not play this game.
