The Witcher 3 was a near-perfect game, and the soundtrack was a perfect accompaniment to it. Although there are numerous standout tracks - most notably Wolven Storm, sung by the bard Priscilla - The Fields Of Ard Skellig outstrips them all.
Played while Geralt is traversing the beautiful and awe-inspiring islands of Skellige, loosely based on the Orkney and Shetland isles off the coast of Scotland, The Fields Of Ard Skellig takes the edge off the rocky landscape, but also subtly adds to it.
Sorrowful Scots Gaelic vocals play over soft, medieval-sounding strings, but the faint guitar underpinning everything in the background adds an element of tension to the track.
This perfectly replicates the story and setting of The Witcher 3, with its often emotional and compelling plot persistently subjecting Geralt to the multitude of dangers in the world of The Witcher.
