10 Beloved Video Game Moments That Would Be Too Offensive In 2017

10. Punching Khalisah Al-Jilani In Mass Effect

At the time: A ridiculous and unexpectedly hilarious scene, where upon gaining Spectre status and being welcomed by the Alliance military and the Citadel Council, you're granted a multitude of interviews with one Khalisah Al-Jilani; a mostly chirpy and talkative reporter looking for a 'scoop', who the game lets you punch square in the face if you don't like her manner of speaking.

Mass Effect's community and Bioware themselves acknowledged the scene's positive response, making Al-Jilani a returning character - one you can punch in the sequels, yet in ME3, she'll attempt to duck your first blow, only to be levelled by the second. Less anything relating to gender and more how we'd all like to treat the gutter press, this is one of the most 'GIF'd' moments in gaming history.

Now: Poor taste. Why did Al-Jilani have to be female? Of course the 'annoying' reporter would be female, and of course the option to resort to violence would present itself after only a handful of questions.

There aren't any other characters in the original Mass Effect whose interactions you can end by punching them in the face, thereby Mass Effect is labelled as a game that promotes violence against women. And she's of asian descent too, so throw 'glorifying racial abuse' in there, too. Disgusting.
