10 Beloved Video Games You Forgot Never Got Sequels

Surely there's a petition to sign or something?!

In 2015, there aren't many video games that get made without a sequel in mind. By their own admission, most of the major companies going into the next (current?)-generation of gaming aren't making standalone titles they don€™t envision becoming bankable franchises one way or another. But, unfortunately for players, there€™s still a large amount of deserving games that just weren't lucky enough to see their franchises take off and dominate the mainstream. Perhaps even worse €“ the most unlucky of games saw their series abruptly killed right when they were at their peak both creatively and critically. Whether it€™s Psi-Ops or Dino Crisis, there€™s a bunch of critically acclaimed and beloved titles that have seemingly disappeared in the modern gaming market. But unlike a lot of media that gets consumed as fast as its forgotten, these games somehow only grow in popularity year-on-year, which makes it even more shocking that sequels to them have never materialised. All this leaves an environment where there are a bunch of awesome, once-iconic titles you could play right now €“ yet for some reason these games simply never spawned the follow-ups they still deserve. While the gaming market's favourite past-time is milking franchises and running then into the ground, these titles suffered the exact opposite fate. Sure, a lot of the fondness for these titles probably stems partly from nostalgia €“ but there€™s no denying that if a sequel to any of these was announced tomorrow you€™d see pre-orders for it shoot through the roof.
