10 Best Quotations From The Metal Gear Solid Franchise

10. €œCats Do Love To Play As Snakes.€ €” Big Boss (Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots)

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was an emotional journey from beginning to end, with players watching as Solid Snake€™s final chapter came to a close. However, the truly shocking moment occurred during the second segment of the two-part epilogue, €œNaked Son,€ as Big Boss returned and confronted Old Snake in the cemetery. Big Boss explained in-depth the plan that EVA, Revolver Ocelot and Naomi Hunter executed in order to bring him back to life and, in the process, end the Patriots€™ influence over the world. Furthermore, during this conversation it was revealed that Ocelot became Liquid's mental doppelganger, with Big Boss€™ remark on the subject being nothing short of amazing: €œCats do love to play as Snakes.€ Richard Doyle€™s superb voice acting made this such a powerful comment, with Big Boss completely summing up the extraordinary relationship Ocelot shared with the Snake family. Ocelot worked alongside Liquid as FOXHOUND€™s interrogation specialist during the Shadow Moses incident; he closely aligned himself with Solidus Snake and exploited the former U.S. president; opposed Solid Snake on several occasions (although we did learn that Ocelot€™s true intentions meant he supported Snake€™s mission during the fourth instalment); and, most importantly, idolised Big Boss - The Phantom Pain is expected to significantly build on this relationship, which is a chapter in the MGS timeline that fans are eager to witness. Big Boss€™ entire conversation with Old Snake in the cemetery still remains one of the best endings the series has produced, which is reinforced by the several iconic phrases - €œLet it go, my son. I'm not here to fight. It's over€ and €œThis is good, isn't it?€ - that could easily make their place on this list. On the other hand, the way in which Big Boss described Ocelot with such a simple but accurate comment truly encapsulated the character€™s connection with the Snakes.
