10 Best Spectacle Fighter Video Games Of All Time

10. Ninja Gaiden

Starting with something that fits the genre thanks to its lightning fast combat and combo counters, Ninja Gaiden is actually the hardest of the bunch.

Playing as Ryu Hayabusa, developers Team Ninja don't care about anything close to "style" or "coolness" - at least not until you've earned it. As a reboot of the 1988 original (a game that was already stupidly hard, I might add), clearly there was a mandate to give you a badass moveset of tornado sword attacks, wall-runs and spells - but only if you can keep up.

The opening and first boss combo alone has gone down in history as one of the hardest in all of gaming, but surmount this furiously unforgiving difficulty playwall, and you're left with one of the finest action games ever conceived.

Almost like it perfected the "work, then play" mentality the likes of Dark Souls would later exude with its fan-mantra of "Git gud", Ninja Gaiden is a brazen test of your gamer mettle, but one you'll feel INCREDIBLE for surviving.
