Fortnite is dominating the modern gaming landscape at the moment, which isn't entirely surprising. There's clearly a market for multiplayer-centric PvP games, as an increasing amount of developers look to provide gamers with an experience that never really 'ends'. The Battle Royale sub-genre has risen significantly because of this, leading to plenty of games centred entirely around it, which can end up rather hit or miss.

The Darwin Project (originally shown at E3 2017) is a small-scale BR-focused title where players are dropped in a Hunger Games style scenario between 10 total fighters. And while it sounds a bit samey as its competitors, the strategic elements of not only surviving but also winning the approval of an all-seeing voting audience and an omniscient 11th player referred to as the Show Director.

Armed with only an axe and bow, you collect resources and craft stronger weaponry so that you can better fend off your opposition. You never know what's going to happen. It's an entertaining survival experience and with a recent switch to a free-to-play model, there's no time like the present to hop in the arena.
