10 Best Xbox One Multiplayer Games You Can Play Offline

9. Rocket League

Psyonix

Rocket League is a simple premise, and one that initially won't sound that appealing to most people. It's essentially a football game, in which two teams of rocket-powered cars try to knock a giant floaty ball into the each other's goal. But once you start playing, the simple gameplay combined with incredibly high skill ceiling will hook you, spurring you to keep improving and keep playing one-more-matche until you collapse from exhaustion three hours later.

While ranked games are all online, Rocket League is equally enjoyable with up to four people in split-screen. The game has no upgrades or levelling system other than your own skill level, so no one has an unfair advantage whenever you jump into fiercely competitive five-minute matches.

Developers Psyonix have been great at supporting the game, regularly updating it with new arenas and game modes to mess around with, such as playing with a tiny ball that reacts like a bullet each time you hit it, and the hugely popular 'Snow Day' mutator, which turns the game into an Ice Hockey match. Rocket League is here to stay, and the sooner you join in the chaos, the better.
