There's just something so wonderful about farming simulators.

Sure, those guys who preach the virtues of Call of Duty and condemn any game where you use your imagination might laugh at that notion, but it's hard not to be charmed by games like Harvest Moon. Most people, at some point in their lives, will consider leaving their hectic nine-to-five existence behind and escaping to the countryside to raise chickens. Farming simulators let you do just that.

Harvest Moon is the most popular series in the genre, and A Wonderful Life is its best entry. While later games declined in quality, the 2004 Gamecube game is the pinnacle of the franchise's quality. The gameplay is fun, the atmosphere is excellent and the graphics are charming. It's easy to spend hours perfecting your farm, but with many other facets including raising a family and improving the village, the game has surprising depth.

A Wonderful Life is populated by weird and wonderful characters, there are bizarre supernatural happenings, and you will have enough going on at your farm that you could only scratch the surface of the game and still have the time of your life.
