10 Blatantly Racist Video Games

9. Deus Ex: Human Revolution

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He09JaBVZdE The latest entry into the Deus Ex series is the most up-to-date game on this list, and therefore in one way the most egregious offender because, really, they should know better. That and the game being set in the future should ensure that racial stereotypes are nowhere to be seen, but alas, this one, of a character you run into called Letitia, results in an unbelievably distracting moment in an otherwise great game. Why the developers felt the need to add in a character who is so absurdly a caricature of a black slave is anyone's guess; some have argued that this isn't overtly racist, and that people still talk this way, but the inflexions sound so thoroughly exaggerated and intentionally evoking the stereotype that it's difficult to believe that. It's incredible to believe that a game that's so intelligent in most other areas - except for the stupid boss battles - is so backward-thinking with relation to one character; it's very out of touch. How could the casting director listen to that and think that it was a good idea? Terrible.
