10 Completely Shameless Video Game Rip-Offs

8. Street Fighter: The Movie - Mortal Kombat

Despite Street Fighter predating Mortal Kombat on the video game front, by the time Street Fighter: The Movie came along, it would take everything about what Mortal Kombat had become, before butchering it in its own image.

The movie itself was a complete bust as Jean-Claude Van Damme was cast as the rugged American marine, Guile, and the rest of the cast totally missed the point of their characters, making the chances of the game succeeding very slim indeed.

The whole point of Street Fighter was the great animation and character designs - hand drawn Blanka is still a triumph of early graphics - but Capcom decided the digitized images of the cast would be far superior, and copied Mortal Kombat instead.
