10 Cult Gaming Classics That Deserved Mainstream Success

8. Catherine

Catherine is a puzzle game where the player moves around blocks to navigate seemingly never ending towers of stairs. There are a plethora of awkward barriers to pass before getting sucked into Catherine though. The overtly present Anime presentation may turn people off just as much as the premise which essentially boils down to pinpointing how loyal the player would be as a lover. It sounds unquestionably creepy on the surface considering at points you enter confessional and are asked personal questions regarding relationships. Your answers are then factored into a poll stored on an online server. The story is inevitably gripping however as you mold the fate of an adulterer down a path of redemption or further through sleaziness. If you play the RPG aspects honestly you may just find some interesting things out about yourself too.
