10 Female Video Game Characters You Totally Fell In Love With

11. Jenny (The Darkness)

Although she bows out relatively early-on in the first game, protagonist Jackie Estacado's previously long-term girl companion leaves one hell of an impact. The game itself is about a timeless, malevolent force that gets passed down generation to generation through certain people until it recedes within mobster Jackie. With varying degrees of control and influence, Starbreeze Studios' landmark title lets you eviscerate your opponents with all manner of tendril-attacks and conjured goblins that can drag enemies off into the distance. Needless to say, it's not the thing you'd rush to tell your partner about. In a cool addition, The Darkness actually featured full-length movies on the disc, so at any point in the game where a TV showed up, you could just chill and watch a handful of flicks from The Man With the Golden Arm to Street Fighter, and even an episode of Flash Gordon. Translating all of this over to a very memorable scene in-game though, and as you snuggle up next to Jenny for a night in she flicks on To Kill a Mockingbird, and you're free to watch the entire thing together - with many intimate 'coupley' animations playing out for effect. Many gamers noted they actually did this too, making a later scene where The Darkness manifests and prevents you from stopping her death all the more powerful.
