10 Gaming Industry Issues That Must Die With This Generation

9. Half-Baked Online Stores

Running an online store for a huge company is a much larger gamble than it might seem from the outset. If you aren't 100% committed to it, then it'll inevitably fall apart and cost your company a LOT of money.

For a related example of this, this is why Disney is putting so much effort into Disney+, because they know that if you're entering this playing field, you'd better come out swinging and prepared to knock everyone else's teeth out.

But if the subject of the above image is anything to go by, this is not universal knowledge.

The Epic Games Store in particular has been seriously lacking in the one year that it's been out, even lagging on basic features that definitely do not take a whole year to figure out the implementation of. Things like - to pick something at random - a flippin shopping cart!

And now other game companies are starting to or at least thinking about getting in on the action, so this is one trend that needs to be bitten in the tail immediately. If you MUST have an online store, it cannot be one that's half cocked.

People are used to using Steam and MAYBE GOG if they need to, so if your store cannot give them a reason to switch, they won't. And sorry, but there's only so much exclusives can do for you in that regard.
