10 Hardest Video Game Achievements Of 2019

It would take a lifetime to see everything Red Dead 2 has to offer.

After recently writing an article on the hardest achievements that cost you 100% completion stats, I thought I’d delve into the past year of gaming, taking 2019 as a whole and picking out the most arduous challenges.

Ultimately, this isn’t the easiest task for one person to complete because of two reasons; firstly and most unsurprisingly, I didn’t play every game in 2019, so I may have missed a difficult one here or there. Secondly, the term hardest is quite subjective.

As a result, you’ll be seeing a variety of achievements which I’ve personally encountered or heard horror stories of throughout the year. We’ve got the obvious Sekiro on the list and the somewhat surprising Disco Elysium, as well as the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the short but sweet My Friend Pedro.

Looking at those you can expect a nice assortment, from grinding to collecting, every boss to every S-rank, random to completely routable and most importantly, a nice balance between patience and the need for a fair bit of skill in regards to timing, movement and an understanding of the game as a whole.

10. Gears 5 - Seriously 5.0

Let’s start with an achievement no one asked for and no one wanted to do. Seriously is a series of achievements that has been in every Gears of War game, and initially had Achievement Hunter infamy because of it being such a challenge.

However, that seems to have died off, perhaps because achievements are less of an interest these days or perhaps because, if you continue to create a horrific achievement list with every instalment of your game, people will stop caring.

Firstly, you must complete the campaign on insane difficulty, which is much easier in co-op. You will then have to complete every launch horde and escape map on master difficulty; horde can be started from round 50 but the escape maps can be extremely overwhelming at times.

OK, still with me? Now, get every launch character to level 15, that seems fun, right? Well, only one person can play as each character per game, so if someone is playing someone you want, you have to leave and load up all over again.

Now comes the part where you say seriously? Get to level 100 and prestige 20 times. Yes, 20 times and no, I do not know why anyone would torture themselves with that much Gears 5.
