10 Incredible Things We Learned From Gamescom

9. Watch Dogs Is Getting A Movie

Watch Dogs It shouldn't really surprise anyone given that it's been hinted at before, but yes, Ubisoft's massively hyped techno thriller Watch Dogs is going to get the movie treatment, courtesy of Ubisoft's new film division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, in a co-production with Sony Pictures and New Regency. Given that New Regency is already working on movies for Assassin's Creed (starring Michael Fassbender) and Splinter Cell (starring Tom Hardy), it shouldn't be too surprising that they're involved, though this does mark a first in video game movies - the movie has been announced before the game has even been released. No doubt swayed by the enormously positive reception the game has received since its E3 bow last year, there's every expectation that this could be a rare video game adaptation with a real cinematic quality that will elevate it beyond the dreck we generally get with these sorts of projects.
