10 Mind-Blowing Video Game Plot Twists Nobody Saw Coming

10. Hero And Villain Are The Same Guy In Infamous

This is one of those twists that work because you weren€™t really expecting it. You jump into the game looking for a straight up action game where you run amok through the city using your amazing powers. This makes for a fun game, but not a particularly €œdeep€ one. However, throughout the game you are dropped hints that the ending might be something a little more than just the good guy defeating the bad guy. As it turns out, it was. Once defeated, Kessler (bad guy) uses his last ounce of strength to give Cole McGrath (good guy) his memories. As it turned out, Kessler was Cole from an alternate timeline (also the future). In that timeline, Kessler opted for a normal, happy life alongside Trish: marriage, kids, white picket fence, maybe a dog, the whole nine yards. However, a powerful entity known as the Beast begins destroying his world. Instead of fighting, Kessler chose to run away and this, eventually, costs the lives of his family. Seeing as how the love of his life is doomed anyway, Kessler decides that he could at least prepare Cole and make him strong enough to take on the Beast in this timeline. And that is pretty much what sets in motion everything that happened in the game up until that point.
