10 Mistakes Nintendo Got Away With (Because They're Nintendo)

8. Wii Mini

Had this been released as a prelude to the actual Wii, it could have served as an exciting way to build hype, but alas, that is not the case.

Supply certainly met the demand here, because Nintendo was supplying something nobody was demanding. And the need to know who this was for only amplifies the more is learned about it. A system that was released after the Wii U was already on the market, and with online features now an industry standard by this point, a system like this that does not have internet is just mind boggling. It was also packaged with Mario Kart Wii, which contained online features, so why not just play it on the Wii as intended?

There was also no backwards compatibility, limiting its appeal even further. Did Nintendo just have scrap parts they needed to sell, or something? At this point, that seems like the only logical explanation to justify something so redundant and useless. Honestly, even at its $99 retail price, it still feels like too much.
