7. One Russian Gamer Vs. Bethesda

The case: Drugs? Alcohol? Smoking? Bah, none of those substances hold a candle to video games as addictive substances, at least not in the case of a particular Russian man that opted to take Bethesda to court, following a three-week binge of Fallout 4 that saw his life fall apart.

As per RT's original report, the 26-year-old 'victim' - who opted to remain anonymous - described how he lost his job, wife and social life to the post-apocalyptic RPG, having skipped meals and sleep too, just for that little bit more.

"If I knew this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it. I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the new year holidays."

The Krasnoyarsk native was said to have been seeking $7,000 from Bethesda for 'emotional distress'.

The outcome: No further coverage of the case ever surfaced, implying that the man either saw sense, dropped the case and sought help for his addictive tendencies or settled out of court (unlikely).

We'd like to believe the whole thing was a hoax and that nobody is that foolish, but given the subject matter of this very article, that's clearly not the case.
