10 Most Badass Backstories In Mortal Kombat History

Think you know what really happened with Sub-Zero?

Since 1991 Mortal Kombat has introduced 64 weird and wonderful Kombatants across nine main games, seven updates/ports, three adventure games and one crossover title. Now take a deep breath, as there's... ninjas, movie stars, Shaolin monks, undead wraiths, criminals, four-armed half-dragons, centaurs, sorcerers, gods, demigods, cyborgs, assassins and traditional martial artists - all just some of the examples of fighter classes fans have been treated to by Midway and NetherRealm Studios in the near quarter century since. With such an array of colorful backgrounds; it's easy to forget that each and every single one of them is fighting for something - it's the one thing that they all have in common despite their vastly different origins. Every one of those characters has their own motivations and reasons to be involved in the Mortal Kombat saga; some are doing it for good, others for evil. Whether it be for pride and personal gain, fighting to the death takes a certain type of mentality that they all must share despite their differences in background and motivation. Mortal Kombat has attracted its fair share of legends into the various tournaments and conflicts that make up its mythos, but some stand out more than others and deserve some recognition.
