9. Death By Whoa (Crash Bandicoot)

A great mix of 3D and side-scrolling platforming with a loveable protagonist; Crash rivals Mario as our favourite video game jumper. So why does he have so many hilariously animated deaths? For example, when Crash is incinerated, his eyes live on for a brief second more to blink (perhaps as some sort of scream for help?). Being hit by a boulder will flatten him to a pancake and leave him flopping on the floor. Every death is also accompanied by a now famous "WHOA!" which is oddly memorable €“ or maybe that should be haunting? Either way, Naughty Dog apparently wanted us to enjoy their hero dying in various ridiculous circumstances; the video above highlights several throughout the first three games of the series.
