10 Perfect Video Game Sequels You'll Never Get

10. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Developed By Raven Software

Why Not?

Sadly, despite Raven being one of the most underrated developers in gaming history (they brought us X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men Legends and Singularity, to name but three), following Singularity's underwhelming sales and a round of layoffs, they've been stuck coding additional assets for Call of Duty ever since.

Ultimate Alliance was itself handed off to Vicarious Visions to free up Raven working on their own projects back in 2009, yet as many fans can attest, the sequel felt like a step backwards in terms of gameplay, features and move sets for each character. As such, we've always pined for Raven to return and deliver the sort of crunchy, melee-focused group combat that made the original so perfect, yet they aren't in any financial position - nor do they have the amount of staff - to develop a full game from scratch.

What Would Be Perfect?

Get Raven back in the driver's seat, restore the RPG-lite mechanics that made the first MUA such an immersive and enjoyable experience, and expand the roster to include more deep cut character picks. Skins and costumes were also trimmed down to one alternate unlockable after the original had a handful per character, and it's yet another one of those somewhat smaller details that means everything to fans.

For MUA3 we'd want to play as everyone from Starlord to Thor, Ant-Man to Spidey and back again. The project would've had the full blessing and licensing of Marvel, so let all those MCU costumes filter back into being acquired through gameplay.

A spiritual sequel (of sorts) to the Ultimate Alliance games exists in the form of Marvel Heroes, but it's a far cry from that passionate, fan-pleasing original - though at this stage, the nearest thing to rekindling those flames lies in buying the barebones 2016 remasters.

If MUA 3 was going to see the light of day, it needs to be a love letter to the fans, by the fans.
