9. Cuphead - Play In Co-Op

When first released, Cuphead became notorious for being one of the most punishing games in recent memory. However, the overwhelming odds in the single-player could be because playing solo isn't supposed to be how you go through the game at all.

Every single cutscene features Cuphead's best pal Mugman, and some of the earliest tutorials explain mechanics to you that literally aren't available if you're riding solo. It's pretty clear that co-op was a huge focus during development, and you stand the best chance at beating the game if you buddy up with a friend.

The different options available to you if you're not running solo completely reshapes the experience, with the ability to revive fallen comrades to carry on the fight in particular often meaning the difference between getting through by the skin of your teeth, or being kicked back to the beginning of a level.

Simply put, playing through Cuphead in co-op alleviates the pain a little bit, even if that's only because you at least you have someone to throw the controller at when you mess up.
