This year has seen some serious releases on the gaming front. Whether it's been technical perfection in Red Dead Redemption 2, or strange deviations into the online multiplayer world for Fallout, there's been both good and bad aplenty as 2018 has rolled on.

And of course, in amongst all the games, announcements, and other fun stuff, rumours have been the main currency on which we've thrived. Plenty of tidbits of information have slipped through the cracks of tightly locked production companies, leaving leaky trails and excited fans practically frothing at the mouth for the next generation of gaming to be set upon us.

So what exactly does 2019 hold? Whilst nothing is a certainty, there's plenty of possibilities. From Blizzard's version of Warcraft: Let's Go! to mediation on the future of flagship production houses, it's setting up to be a crazy year.

Get ready for some recapping of our favourite potential upcoming reveals, hot takes, and of course, some mindless speculation on the future of gaming...

10. Rocksteady's Next Game Could Still Be Superman

There's been plenty of rumours flying around about what the next Rocksteady game could be. The creators of the Batman: Arkham series and devout superhero lovers, many had hoped for a Superman game to be next on the cards, but game director Sefton Hill had other things to say about such idle fantasies in his tweet about this year's Game Awards:

"Looking forward to #TheGameAwards this year! We're still hard at work in our development bunker so don't expect an announcement from @Rocksteadygames. When it's ready to show, you'll be the first to know. Spoiler: it's not Superman."

I'm going to come straight out and say hey, he could be lying. Whilst we don't know what the game will be just yet, their next endeavour has been in production since 2016, leaving a good amount of time for an announcement in the new year. Superman seems like the smartest guess and keeping people talking about Rocksteady's next release is a clever move for retaining hype - so it's not necessarily the definitive truth.

There's also the fact that Rocksteady is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Maybe it's a ruse, and Superman WILL feature in the game; we just get the whole Justice League instead, which is even better.

There's plenty of time to key out any rogue moustaches, by all accounts.
