10 Reasons Games Are Way Better Than Films

10. Competitive Industry Producing Great Technology

I very rarely recall reading too many online debates as to which was better - Warner Bros. or Universal Studios? Of course, both have produced a range of top quality films, as well as a comparable collection of dire efforts. However, neither really command a great deal of sway on the audience. Their films are played in the same cinemas, they employ from the same wide pool of actors, and they sell the same formatted DVDs to the paying public. Therefore, although they want to produce the most commercially successful films, their predominant competition is to avoid making too many mistakes. But, when it comes to video gaming, the fierce competition that has emerged between Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo has only found one true winner - the fans. With the need to improve both the exclusive games and the consoles themselves to the point that they have become their own mass entertainment units, the basis of a simple gaming console has evolved into a hybrid for games, DVDs, Internet browsing and downloadable content. The current generation of the PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii have enhanced gaming experiences for virtually every inch of the the market, making the latest games available to be played via controller, keyboard, or even with just your body and a camera. The rapidly increasing importance of video game consoles to the general population was no better illustrated than at E3 this year, with the significance placed on unveiling the next generation of gaming. Whilst it cannot be denied that films are also adapting and growing constantly to fit as wide an audience as possible, the remarkable growth in popularity of gaming over the past twenty years has meant that the transition from basic shoot em' ups into amazingly realistic and diverse genres has captured the imagination more than any other. The foundation of games has given birth to consoles that any person in the family could utilise for their own purposes. You could even watch a film on them. Just remember not to stick your latest copy of Bioshock Infinite in your Samsung DVD-E36, as in this configuration they aren't exactly compatible.
