10 Reasons Why We're Still Playing Skyrim

10. Regular Updates

Since Skyrim's release last November, Bethesda have been keen to continuously improve the experience for its players. These improvements have come in the form of fairly regular updates that have been available to download every so often. These updates have mostly included bug fixes and performance upgrades to satisfy the more technically minded players out there who had raised issue with texture pop-in and frame rate problems. The updates haven't just included solutions to problems, though, and several of them have added various updates to the Skyrim experience. Previous updates have included a few aesthetic improvements like additional and polished kill animations, but one of Bethesda's more recent updates showed generosity that's practically unheard of in these days of "Day One DLC" and premium content packages. Skyrim's '1.6' update added mounted combat to the game, something that was rather strangely omitted from the initial release and something that fans in blogs and forums had been calling for constantly. Bethesda's decisions to offer this feature in one of their free updates offers a perfect example of their commitment to creating a long-lasting and ever improving gameplay experience for Skyrim players, and so these regular updates are just one very good reason why we are all still playing.
