10 Reasons You're Wrong About Star Wars Battlefront

Screw the haters, this is the best Star Wars experience we've had in years.

When it was announced that DICE and EA would be taking control of the Battlefront franchise, many fans and gamers were less than enthused, and not without good reason. The closing of LucasArts and acquisition of the license by EA - notorious for its anti-consumer business practices - did not bode well for the integrity of the Star Wars brand. News throughout the development seemingly confirmed these fears. Many, including myself, had made up their mind and concluded that this new Battlefront would just be a Battlefield clone with a Star Wars finish. It felt like Battlefront was being ruined, and many fans of the older games had given up hope. Surely the recent beta test would confirm these fears, right? And yet, after one match of Walker Assault on the planet Hoth, I realized I had a big smile on my face. No matter how much I had made up my mind, in the matter of one game, all my cynicism had melted away and I realized I was having fun. I wanted to play again. And so I did until hours had passed. It would be easy to sit here and complain about any problems with the beta, of which there do exist. But these problems are negligible to the overwhelming sense of Star Wars-y goodness I - and many others players - got out of it. The Dark Side continues to surround this game, but now it's time to provide some balance to the Force. Here is why you are wrong about EA's upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront.
