10 Simple Video Games That Are Too Brutal To Master

9. Devil May Cry 1-3

Anyone can pick up and play Devil May Cry. In fact, on the easiest difficulty settings, the game isn€™t really that much of a challenge; the combos are easier to execute, and even the enemies pack less of a punch. Eventually however, you€™ll find yourself getting the hang of it; you€™ll want more of a challenge, something to really test your abilities and put you through your paces. At which point, you€™ll crank the difficulty up a notch, and then you€™ll finally know true pain.

DMC is brutal, and utterly unforgivable; the most powerful combos are almost impossible to perform, and some of the enemies deal incredible amounts of damage with just their most basic attacks. Worse still: the game really emphasises style, actively punishing the player for any and all missteps - any miscommunication whatsoever.

If you value your sanity, accept that Devil May Cry is beyond mastery. Enjoy it for whatever it€™s worth; play on whatever difficulty setting you can stomach, but just know, it cannot be bested.
